The Producer Licensing Record application is hosted by the state of Illinois' Central Management Services (CMS) Web server, which is a separate server from the Illinois Division of Insurance's Web site.
The Producer Licensing Record server is unavailable due to maintenance daily from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am Monday through Saturday and all day Sunday. The server may also be unavailable for short periods of time throughout the day due to maintenance or server load. When the server is not available, the best option is to wait 15 minutes to see if the server becomes available again. The Division of Insurance's Webmaster is rarely informed of unscheduled outages.
A common access problem that occurs with the Producer Licensing Record application is because the application resides on a web server (at CMS) with :8080 at the end of the address. The number 8080 is a port number on that web server. Most Web applications don't specify a special port number so, sometimes firewall software will block access to the website.
This is because firewalls are often set to block special port numbers for Web addresses. Hackers sometimes try to gain access through these special ports to a company's computer resources. Since the Producer Licensing Record application uses a nonstandard port number (8080), that port number might be blocked by a company's firewall. If you are having trouble accessing the Producer Licensing Record application and the problem continues for several hours, you may wish to contact your company's computer technicians to find out if they have blocked port 8080.
